Olkalou Constituency

Saku constituency (IEBC Code, 047) is one of the 290 constituencies in Kenya and one of the 4 constituencies in Marsabit County in upper Eastern part of Kenya. It borders North Horr Constituency to the North and Laisamis Constituency to the South. The constituency hosts the County headquarters, and is situated along the Isiolo-Moyale highway.
Saku constituency has 2,078 sq. kilometers including 560 sq. km of gazetted forest area and the Marsabit National Park area.
The constituency has 3 wards namely;- Marsabit Central, Karare and Sagante/Jaldessa and has 11 locations namely Mountain, Nagayo and Dakabaricha locations in Marsabit Central ward; Karare, Hula hula and Songalocations in Karare ward and Jirime, Qilta, Sagante, DiribGombo and Badasa locations in Sagante/Jaldessa ward.

The constituency had an estimated population of 80,000 people in 2018 withpopulation of under 35 years is estimated to be about 70%. The estimated number of registered voters was 28,000 and 68 polling stations.
Sakuconstituency occupies an area with a topography ranging from 800-1,700 meters above sea level. It has rich volcanic soil which can support a variety of crops and rich vegetation. It is this abundance of resources that attracts immigration thereby.exerting pressure on available natural resources.
